Help, a bridge pin broke on my guitar?!?
My father finally gave the Gibson G-45. The first time I bought when I was in the secondary. Somewhere in the 70th. For years, the guitar sat in his closet. I started playing guitar so he handed it off. There is much done. All strings must be replaced and a bridge pin broke when I tried to replace a string. Can I get some advice? I'm desperate. Moreover, nearest guitar store is 50 miles in both directions. I need to know what brand of strings to buy, whether it should replace all the pins, and what style of restringing that I do (light, L-light, All that Jazz). Also, if you have a mix of old and new strings on a guitar string (EX: 3 new strings and 3 more chain) Is that bad? Does it really matter other than the fact that 3 chains to make a sound a little different?
I am a professional guitarist. no, do not mix old and new strings! corroded old and worthless. will deform the neck.get all new. in terms of new channels to get the acoustic guitar! Martin tries silk and steel. a string of good compromise that is bright and strong and easy to play. replace the bridge pin, and perhaps all of them. if they broke more could go.treat ready for good – old Gibsons have much value in this market.
