I was wondering if you can play through hero world tour guitar with the old guitar hero 3 guitar or if the new platform slide guitar is needed for certain parts of songs.
It is not necessary at all. The scroll bar allows you to play the "Gem Slider" he says, noting they are "tied" together by a thin purple line. If you not use the scroll bar, you can use the regular fret buttons. You will not have to play the notes though, so it makes it much easier.
