No under fingerstyle and classical nylon string acoustic guitar technique improvement of each right?
I've heard that are harmful to themselves by some masters, but said by the teachers under both improve each other.
Like all styles of the fingers (pizzicato), bassist that also played with a plectrum (selection) from time to time I say that only increases its marketability. No better or worse their technique. It simply extends their vocabulary. Is the same argument that if you play acoustic double (vertical) under which its pizzicato (finger style) ruins play his bow (a bow) technique. Once again, is something it just adds to your vocabulary. I personally know some murderer classical guitarists playing style, but still the finger when they go to power, crushing so great with a pick. Why? Increased musical vocabulary and more marketing.
